Say it ain't so, George. T.R. Knight, once upon a time the beatific BFF of all the Grey's Anatomy gals, is this week's guest rapist on Law & Order: SVU? He can't believe it either, and in this week's episode (NBC, 10/9c), which provides new cast members Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino with their best showcase yet, Knight is thoroughly convincing as a family man who never stops protesting his innocence, though the evidence is damning. Told that DNA doesn't lie, he sputters, "Neither do I!" as he literally sweats out this ordeal. But never forget this is SVU, known for the outlandish twist, so when the DA declares, "You have got to be kidding me!" at a critical juncture, you wonder if she's ever watched this show. Bravo to Knight for his bravura work here. He has been missed.

T.R. Knight isn't afraid of anything. Just ask him.
"I think it's dangerous as an actor to get too comfortable, but maybe sometimes I go towards the discomfort a little too much," Knight tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. "There are a lot of things I maybe should have walked away from, but instead they kind of draw me in a little bit more because there's that terror to it."
Since leaving Grey's Anatomy in 2009, he's starred in his first musical (Parade) and performed David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre on Broadway. For his return to TV on Wednesday's Law & Order: SVU (10/9c on NBC), Knight is again embracing the unexpected to play a suspected rapist — a (seemingly) far cry from Grey's sweet, soft-spoken Dr. George O'Malley.

Guess what, ABC? A year and a half after she said she would "finish the show when my contract is up," Ellen Pompeo is open to continuing as Grey's Anatomy's Meredith. Just one problem: "I was invited for eight years — that was my contract — and no one has asked me for a day more," she says. "I know [creator] Shonda Rhimes has said the show will continue, but I wouldn't presume that they want to continue with me. You don't get dressed for the party if you don't have an invitation."
