Sarah Shahi's got a cool cop show, a hot new look — and she's getting married. What's not to love? We talked to the Life (Oct. 6 at 10 pm/ET, NBC and then Fridays at 10 pm) star about what's ahead for Dani this season, her stint on The L Word and growing up in Texas with a name like Aahoo.
TV Guide: Your character on Life, cop Dani Reese, is looking pretty hot this season. Did she get a makeover?Sarah Shahi: My hair is down! You will never see that bun again. We wanted to make the show a little sexier, a bit more fun. [Laughs] Next thing, a bikini. TV Guide: So what's up for the crack detective and recovering addict? Shahi: Dani has a love interest! And she has a relapse.TV Guide: Could it be her new boss who's smitten?Shahi: Captain Tidwell [Donal Logue] and Dani do get

Jeers to Life for casting Donal Logue as Sarah Shahi's new love interest. In what universe are we supposed to believe the greasy-haired, sweat-stained Jimmy the Cab Driver from MTV and Tony Soprano's peyote-fantasy stripper would hook up? It was unlikely enough when Logue wooed sexy Sofia Vergara on The Knights of Prosperity. At least it was unrequited - and a comedy. But why would the captivating Det. Reese fall for the cloddish, much-married Capt. Tidwell? To invoke another Logue comedy, the cop drama's writers should be Grounded for Life.

It's Thursday night and the party celebrating TV Guide's Sexiest Stars issue is just starting to clear out. Settling down into a vacated plush couch across from the sushi bar, for the first time in, oh, six hours I am off my feet. What a time! Katsuya and S Bar here at Hollywood and Vine was chock full of pretty and that was even before I discovered the whole other room in the back! The turnout was terrific. You had a nearly full House (cast), a bazillion Dancing stars (past and present), Chuck and "Sarah" and, yes, Alex O'Loughlin. TV Guide's Sexiest Woman on TV 2008, Jennifer Love Hewitt, put in an early appearance, entirely earning her honor in a super-shimmery shape-hugging silver shift (is what I think the ladies call it). While the memories of my countless laps around the party crowd are still fresh (and only moderately fogged by vodka and tonic), let me do my best to take you inside the Sexiest night of TV's year. The red carpet has just barely been unfurled an...

Im still not convinced that NBCs Life is a great series, but tonights episode (Nov. 13) is the best Ive seen to date of a show that has toned down some of the elements that irritated me when it premiered. Detective Charlie Crews (the charismatic Damian Lewis), who is still trying to unravel the circumstances of the unjust murder conviction that kept him behind bars for 12 years, remains something of an acquired taste. But he is indulging his quirks (spouting Zen aphorisms, munching fruit) with far fewer mannerisms. Theres not quite as much of the arent-I-just-adorable mugging that turned me off in the first episodes. It helps that tonights case is a doozy, involving a corpse that would make TVs various CSI teams do a double-take. Crews and his typically skeptical partner Dani Reese (nicely underplayed by Sarah Shahi) are called to a house thats nearly as empty as Crews own mansion his settlement after his release earn...
