Judges' Diary: Episode 2

To quote myself, as I’ve been known to do: “Reality television creates celebrities out of almost anyone.” That line, spoken during the judging panel, pretty much sums up the theme of this episode. It also applies to this week’s guest judge, Chris Moore, who became famous as the no-holds-barred taskmaster of HBO’s pioneering docu-reality series Project Greenlight. Chris is a larger-than-life personality, as anyone knows who's watched Greenlight. He’s funny and bawdy, yet as I get to know him during the long course of a shoot on a balmy Sunday night, he still seems genuinely surprised that he became a recognizable TV personality by being on a reality show. He’s the perfect choice to guide us through this challenge, which took on an unexpectedly wacky dimension when one of the guest celebs “backed out” — as in threw out his back. As we arrive at the stage, we’re told of the unusual circumstances: Lorenzo Lamas had dropped out at the ... read more

Looking Forward to the Daytime Emmys

I did a photo shoot with Joshua Morrow (Nick) and Sharon Case (Sharon) the other day. It was really fun — or at least Sharon and I had fun. Josh couldn’t wait to get out of there. He had a softball game to go to, and taking pictures is not Josh’s favorite thing to do. Here he had two hot babes draped over him and he still didn’t like it.Sharon just got married, so she’s in honeymoon bliss. It’s very sweet to see. Me myself, I’m alone, barren and lonely, ha ha ha. That’s completely a joke. Of course I'm not barren. The Daytime Emmys are next week. It will be very fun I’m sure. It's always fun to see everybody. I’m very much looking forward to the lead-actress luncheon on Thursday. And I picked the place and put together the event, since Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B) was egregiously not nominated this year — although she will be coming to the luncheon. Unfortunately, Maura West (Carly, ATWT) cannot attend. I’m very bumme... read more

The First Blog Is The Deepest

Hey! I'm Michelle Stafford and I play Phyllis Summers Newman on CBS' The Young and the Restless. This is my first entry for my new TVGuide.com blog. TV Guide soap-opera guru Daniel Coleridge invited me to write this, so here it is.... My body is very tired because I've been crying for the last three days on the show. I’ve been working with Christian [LeBlanc, Michael on The Young and the Restless], and he’s out of his mind. When Christian and I rehearse, I like to walk around The Grove (great shopping center, right next door to where we tape at CBS Television City) and run our lines, and go to my favorite Brazilian restaurant at the Farmers Market (adjacent to The Grove). Even if we’re two hours away from shooting, Christian is hesitant to leave the studio. Christian likes to run, and run, and run the lines. I like to run the lines a few times. Peter [Bergman, who plays Jack] likes to run the lines a few times too. Josh [Morrow, who plays Nick] doesn’t like to ru... read more

Scoop! The Young and the Restless...

Scoop! The Young and the Restless redhead Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) recently shot a Fox pilot in Memphis. It's an hourlong drama whose working title is Southern Comfort.

"You have the exclusive on that, my friend!" Stafford tells TVGuide.com. "The leading lady is Madeleine Stowe. She plays Charlotte, a Southern belle whose husband is in the Mafia, unbeknownst to her. He gets caught and she basically becomes a Mafia princess. I play her perky, happy best friend, Susan, and I have a twangy accent!"

Other celebs appearing in the pilot include Eric Roberts and Calvin Klein model Travis Fimmel, who briefly starred in WB's Tarzan.

Stafford left Y&R once before, back in 1997, to star in Aaron Spelling's superfun but short-lived nighttime sudser Pacific Palisades. But the Daytime Emmy winner's fans need not fret just yet about the read more
