Get ready for one of the most star-powered charitable single since "We Are the World." Fifteen of the hottest female artists, including Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus, are joining voices to record the song "Just Stand Up" to benefit the Stand Up for Cancer Fundraising Campaign.According to Variety, the tune, produced by Kenneth Edmonds and Antonio Reid (better know as Babyface and L.A. Reid), also features singing powerhouses Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Keyshia Cole, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Fergie, Leona Lewis, Rihanna, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and Christopher Dodd have all agreed to participate in an August 9 Democratic presidential debate on gay issues, to be hosted by the Logo cable network, Variety reports. Questions will be served up by a panel that includes Melissa Etheridge and Joe Solmonese, prez of the Human Rights Campaign (a cosponsor of the face-off). It is said that gays account for four percent of the voting population.Though invites were tendered, no similar forum will be held for the Republican candidates, as Mitt Romney's peeps said no and the Rudy Giuliani and John McCain camps never even RSVP'd — not that there's anything wrong with that.

American Idol Song choice presented major problems for the first two guys, Patrick Hall and David Radford. Patrick's nerves were too obvious; he could've used some of Melissa Etheridge's bravado and grit to get through "Come to My Window." Meanwhile David picked "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" to get away from the crooner label and then proceeded to "Sinatra" his way through a Vegas-style version. Not the best start for either guy.
Bucky Covington used his growling vocals to full advantage on "Simple Man." Ryan Seacrest contrasted his own potential song title with Bucky's by calling himself a "Shallow Hollywood Talking Head," which may be the most accurate judgment anyone has ever made on American Idol. Young Will Makar
