Martina McBride Fast Facts:

Her first group was a family band her father formed called the Shiffters. She started singing with them at age 7 and continued to perform with them until she graduated high school.
Got her break as the opening act for Garth Brooks in 1992.
Made her acting debut in a 1994 episode of Baywatch.
Won the CMA Video of the Year award for her 1994 hit "Independence Day," a song that nearly didn't get any airplay due to its controversial subject matter.
Joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1995.
Appeared in a 2003 episode of CMT's Crossroads with one of her childhood idols, Pat Benatar.
Served as a guest coach for contestants on Canadian Idol in 2006 and on American Idol the following year.
Is an active supporter of domestic-violence awareness and prevention programs, including the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
