Stars were all about support at the annual GLAAD Awards, which honor fair portrayal of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in the media. "I didn't let a straight person near me tonight," joked Kathy Griffin before asking her mother onstage to name the most gay person she could think of. "Is Ryan Seacrest here?" asked 87-year-old Maggie Griffin, as the audience roared with laughter and approval. The merry red carpet was like a who's who of television, with Ellen Degeneres, Becky Newton, Sally Field, Jennifer Beals and more zipping by. We stopped Ugly Betty's Christopher Gorham to chat about the rest of the season, and he elaborated on what Ausiello reported last week. "The show is going to be better than ever towards the end of season two," he says. Comedian Kathy Griffin tells EW the Disney Channel fired her from the Hannah Montana series for her comments at last year's Creative Arts Emmys.Upon winning the award, Griffin said, "Suck it, Jesus! This award is my god now!"About her dismissal from the show, she took aim at star Miley Cyrus. "[She] has been flashing her green bra and posing topless. Kathy Griffin, the self-described D-list comic, officiated at the wedding ceremony of two fans on Saturday.The lucky couple is Brian Anstey, 31, a fifth-grade teacher, and Elka Shapiro, 29, a marketing director, who were married at the Queens County Farm Museum by the provocative comedienne, who told raunchy jokes on Brian and Elka's special day. "It's so unusual and something we'll always remember," Shapiro said."The request came in, and how could I say no?" Griffin told the Daily News. She was ordained by an online church, and completed paperwork to be able to officiate in New York state. As reported earlier today, the folks behind American Idol are reviving Match Game. I may be in the minority here, but my restrained response to this news was something akin to "Woo-hoo!" I loved that show — both in its heyday and in reruns on the Game Show Network — if only because it's the strangest anthropological documentation of 1970s comedy, sexual mores and substance abuse that you're ever going to find on network television. It was pretty subversive for a game show (see examples on YouTube), with more cigarette smoking, daytime drinking and winking sexism/sexual innuendo than your average episode of Mad Men.So we asked you who you'd put on the show's inaugural panel. I have to respond to Skye's long response to your opinion that you think Connie Britton should be placed in a category all by herself. She should. She is the best actress on TV right now. End of story. Yes, Glenn Close and Sally Field may be Oscar winners and more accomplished actresses as a whole, but Connie Britton continuously puts on a breathtaking performance week in and week out.
