It's ironic that this handsome, all-American actor was discovered on the Paris metro. But that's just where a modeling scout spotted him and soon Chambers was showcasing his impressive physique in campaigns for Calvin Klein and Armani. In the '90s he segued to acting, first with the prerequisite soap stint on
Another World, then in TV guest spots before hitting the big screen. Although he definitely had the looks, he had trouble finding projects that highlighted his talents. He tended to fare better in supporting parts — Jennifer Lopez's Italian fiancé in
The Wedding Planner,
the gentile buddy of a Jewish man in
Liberty Heights — than he did as a lead — his less-than-dashing turn as a poorly wigged D’Artagnan in 2001's
The Musketeer. At a career crossroads, Chambers turned back to the small screen and landed on a hit show: the crime drama
Cold Case. Unfortunately for him, the series only became popular after he left. But his next shot at small-screen stardom panned out: as an arrogant but kind-hearted doctor on
Grey's Anatomy, Chambers finally got to prove that he could do more than be hot — although he continued to do that, too. Off-screen Chambers leads a low-key life with his modeling agent wife and their five children.
