Bon Jovi Records Version of "Stand by Me" for Iranian People

With nearly wall-to-wall coverage of Michael Jackson's death, it might be easy to forget the ongoing struggle taking place in Iran. But rocker Jon Bon Jovi hasn't forgotten.

Earlier this week, Bon Jovi and bandmate Richie Sambora recorded a version of Ben E. King's classic "Stand by Me" with Iranian superstar Andy Madadian. Their mission: to send a message of global solidarity to the Iranian people who are caught in the midst of debate and protest over the country's recent election.

Richie Sambora Arrested for DUI; Daughter in Car?

Rock maven Richie Sambora was arrested for a DUI Tuesday night in Laguna Beach. The Bon Jovi guitarist was caught driving "erratically" in a black Hummer and was pulled over at around 11 pm. After failing several sobriety tests, he was left livin' on a prayer when he was taken to the police station. He reportedly complied with authorities and took a blood test. There was no sign of drug use. There were, however, three female passengers in the car with Sambora at the time of arrest. According to TMZ, one of them was his 10-year-old daughter, Ava, whose mother is his ex-wife, Heather Locklear.Sambora, who has had two stints in rehab, was released early Wednesday morning. Jon Bon Jovi, meanwhile, has not publicly commented on the arrest. Does Sambora give rehab — or, at least, celebs who imbibe and drive — a bad name? Or do you sympathize with him? — Anna Dimond read more

SNL Gets in Tune with... Spoon? Oh, and Bon Jovi, Too

Saturday Night Live has revealed its lineup for the first three weeks of the new season. As previously reported, the late-nighter returns on Sept. 29 with 'baller host LeBron James and musical guest Kanye West. (Have I mentioned how much he rocked the TV Guide after-Emmys party? It was insanity.)On Oct. 6, Superbad auteur Seth Rogen oversees the show, with musical guest Spoon. (No relation to the Loving Spoonfuls, I imagine.) Then on the 13th, we get Jon Bon Jovi as host with the Foo Fighters delivering the tunes. read more

May 2, 2007: Double the Pleasure? Not.

Well I'll have a lot more for you later, but suffice it to say, I picked the two to go home this week in my last blog. And though I was right, I don't feel very good about it. Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson were voted off after a combined two-week total of 135 million votes — that's an insane number! You know how I feel about Chris, so it was really hard to see him go, and Phil had actually been performing a lot better over the last few weeks. There's no joy in being right tonight. As we get down to the wire it gets harder and harder to be happy about who’s going home. Oh sure, back in the days when we were ready to jump off a bridge if America kept Sundance around for another week it was all fun and games, but that’s all changed with this week. I trust you all watched in horror as Ryan and Simon had their weekly tiff — this time about puppets. If I had kids, I’m really not sure I would let them watch this show. It’s very randy. (Not randy as in Jackso... read more
