Weeks ago, when Escobar said goodbye to Sean and told him, "We're even now," and that he wouldn't be back, you knew that was too good to be true. Tonight, after James shot herself to death, you knew that would not be the end of Michelle's troubles. But who knew James would be working for Escobar? Nice twist. Now Escobar wants Michelle to take over for James. That's not going to fit into Christian and Michelle's perfect new family life with little Wilber. We all knew as soon as Michelle got into her car that someone was going to be inside — but did any of you expect it to be Escobar? Yes, Robert LaSardo's name was in the opening credits, but I thought he'd be seen in one of Sean's dream sequences. We'll have to wait until next week's season finale to find out more about Escobar's diabolical plans, but let's cross our fingers that those plans don't involve one of Wilber's kidneys. November 28, 2006: Reefer | Nip/Tuck | 11/29/2006
So, right away I was thinking: "It's not even December — why are we getting a Christmas episode already?" Then I remembered that we only have two more episodes left for this season, the season finale airs as early as December 12, and December begins this Friday. Happy holidays! Actually, this episode was more like Halloween meets Christmas. I'd like to officially place Jacqueline Bisset's James character in the category of TV's all-time creepiest characters. As soon as Sean asked Reefer the homeless man (Charles Haid) to stay the night at McNamara/Troy after Sean stitched up his face, I knew that James would make Reefer her next victim. But I didn't expect her to kill him by removing just about all of his organs: how refreshing. Then I thought about it — of course she had to kill him and strategically remove his body from the premises without the knowledge of the FBI surveillance guards. There are two types of Nip/Tuck dream sequences. The first is the kind used on most TV shows — when a character is asleep and is dreaming (or having a nightmare), and we get to watch what they're dreaming about. The second is the kind we've been seeing more and more on this show, and it usually involves Christian or Sean. They either have a daydream or a hallucination — they're just envisioning someone in the room and that certain someone talks to them and sometimes Christian or Sean talk back. This happens to Sean quite often because of Escobar (which confuses him when it's the real thing). Tonight, it was Christian who had an ongoing daydream involving a collection of his former loves and lusts (mostly lusts, of course). Not surprising since Christian seems to finally be in love and is moving in with his new fiancée, Michelle, so he is literally saying goodbye to his infamous bedroom and figuratively saying goodbye to the women he's bedded in the room. You knew it was inevitable that Michelle would maneuver Burt's death, but I didn't think it would be so soon. I was really digging Larry Hagman in the role, but this doesn't mean he can't come back for some fabulous Nip/Tuck dream sequences. When Michelle told Francis the nurse to go home and that she'd take care of giving Burt his pills, I knew Michelle was lying. Poor Burt had to crawl out of bed and attempt the stairs by himself just to try to take those dang pills. Too late. Burt died a dramatically painful death while his wife, Michelle, just stared at him. But taking Burt's kidney saved her dear Christian's life. Excellent timing with that text message from James to the "whore"/staff member with the razor blade who was having sex with Christian: "Abort." Since James had 24 hours to give those two mysterious French-speaking Asian-American dudes "one more kidney" to meet their quota, mission accomplished.
