The current critical and commercial darling of Broadway, The Book of Mormon, unsurprisingly reigned supreme at Sunday night's Tony Awards, taking home nine trophies including Best Musical. Its creators, South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone, as well as their collaborator, Avenue Q's Robert Lopez, snagged the honor for Best Book of a Musical.
The Book of Mormon — from the creators of South Park — leads the 65th annual Tony nominations with 14, including best musical and best direction.
The Scottsboro Boys follows with 12 nominations. Both productions will vie for the best musical honors against Catch Me If You Can and Sister Act.
