On Sunday's season finale of True Blood, at least three, possibly four former cast members, previously thought to be dead, or as dead as one can be on this show, returned for an extra-spooky, Halloween-set season finale. Great, you think, just what this show needs, more characters. But wait! This episode also has a steep body count, my friends. At least four series regulars appeared to die during this hour. It's really hoary cliff-hanger stuff that will continue to enrage you for the next 10 months or so until True Blood's fifth season is finally upon us. Who died? Who was resurrected? Let's do this: I'll tell you what happened during this jam-packed hour, and then I'll make some wildly speculative predictions about Season 5. Then you let me know if you agree in the comments section below. Deal?

This weekend, HBO fills out its summer Sunday lineup, as the final season of Entourage (begging the old "that's still on?" question) joins the red-hot True Blood and a resurgent Curb Your Enthusiasm, which airs its most uproarious episode of the season to date.
Let's take it from the top — or should I say, over-the-top — with a nod to True Blood (9/8c) for delivering the goods this season, adapting one of Charlaine Harris' best-ever storylines from the Sookie books and providing Alexander Skarsgard with a tour de force as the newly vulnerable Viking vampire Eric Northman. All memory of his majestic demonic past wiped clean by a possessed witch who's in over her head (the riveting Fiona Shaw as Marnie), Eric is like a lost child, playfully impulsive and clearly smitten by his caretaker Sookie but easily chastened and profoundly confused as to his true nature.

Welcome back, fangbangers! Mickey O'Connor here, ready to dive into the cesspool of platelets, fornication and biscuits with gravy that is True Blood. For this first episode, my recap will be pretty, well, recappy, since there is so much new ground to cover, but after this week, I'm hoping to keep things on the shorter side to put the spotlight where it belongs: on your brilliant observations in the comments section. Let's let the bon temps roulez!

Here are 10 things we do know about what's coming up, straight from the cast of True Blood:

Trying to get True Blood executive producer Alan Ball and the cast of the HBO series to give away anything about the upcoming fourth season is not easy. Oh, but how they love to tease! During Saturday's PaleyFest panel, we heard all about fairies, demon babies, amnesia (poor Eric!) and why — brace yourselves — Sookie and Bill are doomed for the time being.
Bill's not getting back into Sookie's, er, good graces any time soon. It's going to take a long while for her to get past Eric's...
