When Stars Hollow's oldest resident dies and leaves his house to the town, Luke has an ulterior motive for volunteering to help turn the house into a temporary museum. Dean (recurring guest star JARED PADALECKI) is also working on the project and offers Luke unwelcome advice about the dangers of dating a Gilmore girl. To get publicity for the Dragonfly Inn, Lorelai grants an interview with a travel magazine but immediately regrets the unkind comments she makes about being raised by Emily. Meanwhile, Lane suspects that Zach (recurring guest star TODD LOWE) is having an affair with music store owner Sophie (recurring guest star Grammy Award winner CAROLE KING - composer, producer, singer of the "Gilmore Girls" theme song "Where You Lead"), while Rory and Paris are both devastated by trouble with their respective boyfriends. But Lorelai's plans go awry when Luke is unable to disguise the fact that he thinks Dean isn't good enough for Rory. During his bachelor party that night, Dean stumbles into Luke's diner and drunkenly confesses how much he misses Rory.
