While on the Today show promoting his show Nashville Star, Meredith couldn't resist asking Billy Ray what his take was on the passé issue of Miley's half-naked, provocative photos in Vanity Fair. Daddy Cyrus explained he didn't complain to the magazine by using the lovely metaphor, "The more you stomp in poop, the more it stinks." He even addressed what many called the "creepy" pose between him and his daughter which looked more like boyfriend and girlfriend.

Cheers to Nashville Star for cutting to the chase. American Idol's countrified cousin whittled down the audition process which takes Simon Cowell & Co. seemingly endless weeks to 20 minutes, and promptly presented the Top 12 finalists. It helped that there were none of the airtime-sucking freak-shows that make Idol's initial episodes so painful. Plus, Jewel smoothly transitioned from host to judge, making room for new emcee Billy Ray Cyrus to bring some of that Hannah Montana/Dancing With the Stars magic to the show as it's transplanted from USA to NBC.
