Ashanti canceled a Saturday concert in Johannesburg, South Africa, when her cousin, Quinshae Snead, was killed by a 17-year-old drunk driver. Snead, 20, was being taken on a preshow errand for her cousin when her driver's vehicle was rear-ended. Ashanti is expected to escort Snead's body back to the United States today.

For her feature-film debut in Coach Carter (opening Friday), R&B idol Ashanti got to work with both Samuel L. Jackson and Finding Forrester star Rob Brown.
