It was supposed to be just another day at the office — except the office was Sterling Cooper & Partners, and I had stepped into a time machine.
Jon Hamm's Don Draper has never been an easy man to like, much less love — and Mad Men's previous season saw him burning nearly every bridge in his life, with his partners, his wife, even his daughter. But with just 14 episodes left to find Don's (un)happy ending, notoriously evasive creator/showrunner Matthew Weiner sat down with us in his spacious, well-appointed Los Angeles office to discuss the future of Sterling Cooper & Partners, the pressure of writing the finale — and the possibility of a spinoff.
The White House briefing room is buzzing. A scandal is brewing — when isn't one on Scandal? — and the ever-ravenous press corps is waiting for President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) to make his entrance.
It's just like any other day on the set...except I was sitting in the second row. Why? A few real reporters were invited to play, well, reporters, and we were granted access for a doozy. The president was finally going to talk to the press about the rumors of his affair with our favorite fixer.
But before I got to grill the president, I had to pass inspection with the wardrobe team. My editor-in-chief business suit and professional pumps were begrudgingly approved, though costume designer Lyn Paolo wasn't thrilled with my de rigueur New York black. My mop of long, messy curls, however, was deemed a problem. "We're going to have to do something about this," said hairstylist Roberto Rangel as he ushered me into the makeup trailer.
What better way to celebrate 25 years of The Oprah Winfrey Show than by making a list of our favorite Oprah moments. The only problem? There were too many to choose from! In 25 years on the air, Oprah Winfrey created some classic, unforgettable moments of television that made us laugh, cry, think, vote, donate and stand up and cheer. First we asked our readers for your input — and then TV Guide Magazine's editors had a few meetings where we argued, debated and ultimately shaped a list that got quite a bit of attention. So much so, in fact, that OWN decided to turn our list into a six-part series — TV Guide Magazine's Top 25 Best Oprah Show Moments — that premieres Tuesday, Aug. 28 with back-to-back episodes at 9/8c and 10/9c.Thanks for the memories, Oprah. Here are three that made the list.
A lone, hungry wolf hasn't eaten in days. He's traveled hundreds of miles in search of food. Desperate, he finally spies a herd of caribou. They can run faster — but he's got stamina. Who do you root for?
