It looks like Jeanine Mason is trading in her stethoscope for a hunky alien from the CW.

The CW has tapped the Grey's Anatomy actress for the lead role in its Roswell reboot, according to TVLine. She'll be playing Liz Ortecho, a biomedical engineer and the daughter of undocumented immigrants who returns home to Roswell, New Mexico to find that her high school crush is actually an alien with supernatural abilities. Her role was previously played by Shiri Appleby in the original series.

Mason joined Grey's Anatomy in Season 14 as Sam Bello, one of the new interns at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. She's also the former college flame of Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti), who she can't seem to stop falling into bed with no matter how bad they are for each other. Should the Roswell reboot get picked up, we'll probably be saying goodbye to Sam before Season 14 is out.

Mason's other credits include Bunheads and You're the Worst, and she was the Season 5 winner of So You Think You Can Dance.

The original Roswell series ran for three seasons on The WB from 1999 to 2002.

(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, one of The CW's parent companies)
