Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall
On paper, Bogie and Bacall (or "Baby," as he called her) hardly seemed like a match made in heaven. She was 19 and he was 45 (not to mention, married) when they met on the set of 1944's To Have and Have Not, but their chemistry on and off screen was palpable. "He was very apprehensive about the age difference. But it didn't bother me. I thought we suited one another perfectly," Bacall said. They married in 1945, had two kids, made three more movies together, and charmed audiences during their 12-year marriage. Bogart died of throat cancer in 1957 and was buried with a gold whistle, which was inscribed with: "If you want anything, just whistle" — a reference to their first film.
