The Biggest Loser's Dolvett Quince Blogs Episode 7

Dolvett Quince

Week 7 on The Biggest Loser was centered on nutrition, a vital area that the majority of people are misinformed in. I'll get back to this topic, but first things first: I know the suspense of this week's changes kept many of you on the edge of your seat...or were you just doing dips? ;)  Hopefully both! Anyway, it was finally revealed that the teams were about to change and the contestants would be choosing their trainers. It was based on a calorie counting challenge so some contestants were paired with their trainer by default.  The challenge was a wake up call for everyone on the ranch as well as viewers at home.  All I have to say is "chocolate" and "gravy" do not belong in the same sentence let alone together in a dish, come on Vinny! That being said now is the perfect time to reevaluate your favorite foods and create healthier versions. You don't have to deprive yourself of delicious and great tasting food you only need to change your mindset. I showed my semi-new Red Team how to prepare alternate options of the high-calorie dishes they once devoured. You can visit NBC.com for the recipes I made.

One of my new team members, Bonnie, broke down during our workout, but it resulted in a breakthrough after I spoke to her privately. I suggested she write her late husband a letter telling him how she feels, her experience on the ranch, and that she's ready for love again. Apparently, she was internalizing a great deal so this was a healthier way for her to move on.  I'm glad we spoke because it was evident that the burden on her heart and mind was interfering in her progress on the ranch. I would offer the same advice to any of you who are struggling with a dilemma(s). You don't have to necessarily write a letter but just manifesting something down on paper/computer is an excellent outlet.  It's also a way to start listing goals if you don't already. You will be surprised how much you accomplish and move forward and upward in life by just setting and organizing your short/long-term goals. That's half the work and the other half is the action you take!

This week's weigh in was intense, my RED team was up first and they lost big numbers. John lost an impressive 15 pounds — he had the highest percentage of weight loss and no matter what would be safe this week. Jessica lost 8 pounds and Bonnie lost 9 pounds. I was so proud of my team. The BLACK team was up next and collectively lost 39 pounds. Finally, the BLUE team weighed in and lost 40 pounds, winning the weigh in. One of my team members was going home. The other teams decided to send Jessica home, keeping Bonnie.

Remember what I said before about 'Lifestyle Changes'? Start making better choices, stick to it and before you know it you'll have made it a habit. That goes for everything in life not just nutrition. CREATE A BETTER YOU! Tune in next week to watch as the trainers participate in the challenge with the contestants, you'll see us cooking up a storm in the kitchen!
