Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a great week! Thanks for voting for us again!

First, I want to get you up to speed on my injury. Yes, I had an MRI on Tuesday on my foot. I have a lot of pain in my joints and ankle area. It's not pleasant and I was hoping that there's something that I could do to get rid of the pain. My doctor, who's one of the best foot specialists in the world, warned me that I might not be able to continue if there's a chance my injury could get worse. Luckily, I got the results back yesterday and he said I could continue, but I have to rest it as much as I can. It was completely not what I thought it was. He said, "You should continue, but don't use your foot too much." I'm like, "It's not Sitting with the Stars!" In all seriousness, I am trying to rest it and take it day by day because I don't want it to get worse. My doctor understands the profession and he is a little more in depth when it comes to treatment for those who don't have the opportunity to stop what they're doing. Right now, I'm hoping I will feel better by Monday.

That's really all I can say about it right now. The show will focus on it a little bit more on Monday. I don't want to milk stuff like this. If production decides to put in cameras in my MRI office, I can't do anything about that. I think with these types of activities, injuries are normal. It's nothing to highlight. Unfortunately, if I tell producers that I might be able to continue, that's why they have to be present, so the audience can see what's going on.

Val is here, so I'm gonna have Val come in to our rehearsals until I see how I feel. I'm happy I have the green light right now, but I'm a little worried. The range of motion that we do with our feet is so great. It's not just walking, which is painful in and of itself. There's also a machine called a bone simulator that's supposed to expedite the process. I think if the pain doesn't go away by Monday, then I'm gonna get a shot. The problem is, with this type of aggravation in the bone, the shot might make it worse. We'll see how it is.

Next week is Classical Week and we also have a team dance. Our dance is the Argentine tango, so it'll be a clashing of styles to the classical music. Even though Val's here, it's still my vision for the dance. I don't want it to be a two-person thing. But to be honest, having another person just sitting here helps. I'm very stubborn. I don't use outside help because nobody knows Melissa better than me and someone else might make it worse. But it is useful to have another set of eyes there and Val is very, very good. It's all about maintenance. I want to maintain the direction we're going in and what we're doing.

Melissa's very supportive. She's awesome. I know it must be hard for her not knowing if her partner will be able to teach her and dance, but she's been my rock. We're very, very good friends. I think it might be one of the best relationships I've had with anybody on the show. That means a lot to me. I feel like she has my back and I certainly try to have hers. I'm not the publicly affectionate type, but I really love her. I think she's awesome. She's a great person. We give our celebrities as much as we can give them. It's nice to know that they have our backs. This was also the case with Kristie, Hope, Mel, Erin and so on. One time, I flew to England with Mel, but people don't know that she had tonsillitis and I had an ear infection that same week. She had a 15-hour shoot and she was literally nursing me the entire time when she wasn't working. All I had to do was rehearse and sleep while she was filming. It's these kinds of relationships that make this worth it. You give your all to the person you're dancing with. With Melissa, she loves it and she gets it.

I thought Melissa did a great job this week. I think it's her best dance yet. The show played up our comments about getting 7s, but the scores in the long run don't matter to me as much as seeing Melissa happy and she was truly happy this week. She did a great dance, they told her she was great, she got good scores, and I know she was very pleased. Scores are a psychological factor. When someone gets a high score all the time it gives them the confidence they need to keep going.

Once again, thanks to all of our fans for keeping us out of the bottom two. We weren't sure if we were going to be there or not. I feel bad for Roshon though; his rumba was phenomenal. I don't know what's going on. The thing that is certain is, there are no room for mistakes. But, if Melissa's happy, I'm happy.

One last thing I want to mention, This Sunday, I'm hosting an event for the Just Dance 3 game. It will take place at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! set, which should be very cool. It's in conjunction with Propel and people can come and play the game. The winner will get to dance against me! Hope to see you there!

That's all for now. Thanks for reading!
