Although the book was unfinished at the time of the author's death, the final scenes were added by screenwriter Andrew Davies, who, with producer Sue Birtwistle, was also responsible for the acclaimed 1996 TV-version of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice.' The miniseries later aired on 'Masterpiece Theatre' in April 2001.
