'Night, Knights: ABC Sits Sitcom

Ray Romano can breathe easy — for now. ABC has pulled The Knights of Prosperity from the schedule for the foreseeable future, even though four episodes remain unaired and there's an outstanding order for nine additional scripts. Most recently, the Donal Logue starrer drew an audience of 4.2 million, hemorrhaging nearly two mil from lead-in George Lopez.Filling Knights' Wednesdays-at-8:30 slot starting this week will be a rerun of According to Jim, followed on March 14 and 21 by episodes of Lopez.

Meet "Gary," the Knights of Prosperity's Master Schemer

Seven episodes into their first season, The Knights of Prosperity have yet to rob Mick Jagger. Fortunately, ABC's ensemble comedy has nabbed more than a few laughs. Maz Jobrani, who plays Gourishankar "Don't call me Gary" Subramaniam on the show, is a big part of that. Ratings: Strong Bones, Lights and Knights Prosper

This Wednesday's ratings notes:• With an audience of 12.56 million total viewers, Bones enjoyed its best outing in a year and its second-largest audience ever.• Friday Night Lights (6.86 million) soared almost a mil, delivering its best numbers since the series' Oct. 3 premiere. Did you see the Ausiello Report's latest casting scooplet?)• ABC seems to have solved its comedy conundrum: Despite a loss of 1.7 million viewers when compared to According to Jim, The Knights of Prosperity (5.25 million) boosted its previous tally by a mil, and the 8 o'clock block was up a hair overall. The 9 pm combo of Jim (5.75 mil, down 400K) and In Case of Emergency (4.57 mil, up 1.6 mil thanks to a stronger lead-in) was up two million overall.• Beauty and the Geek (4.08 million) was up a mil. ABC Moves to Help Knights' Prosperity

With an eye on American Idol's strong second hour, especially as coupled with Criminal Minds, ABC is shaking up its Wednesday Knights. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new schedule, in which Jim Belushi and Donal Logue trade places, goes like this:8 pm/ET: George Lopez8:30 pm: The Knights of Prosperity9 pm: According to Jim9:30 pm: In Case of EmergencyIn other words, David Arquette forgot to shake someone's hand at the ABC Christmas party.Oh, and with Knights now in the 8 o'clock hour, I'm guessing that any future instances of a vinyl-catsuited Esperanza will be pixelated, out of deference to the kiddies. Ratings: Jim Disarms the Armed & Famous

In this Wednesday's ratings showdown:• Averaging 8.56 million total viewers — a boost of 1.3 mil from the week prior — a double helping of According to Jim topped the 8 o'clock hour, besting CBS' heavily publicized Armed & Famous (8.22 mil).• Friday Night Lights (6.56 mil, up 300K) is still shining bright, with its most-watched episode since TSMO30O (that special Monday, Oct. 30, outing).• Opposite a Criminal Minds repeat and Deal or No Deal — and perhaps buzz-killed by the unfunny presidential address — both The Knights of Prosperity (5.27 million, down 1.9 mil) and In Case of Emergency (5.81 mil, down 480,000) took hits in their second weeks. The show was loosely based on the popular Look Who's Talking movies and was adapted for television by Ed Weinberger. Amy Heckerling created original characters for the series while using key creative and script elements from Look Who's Talking, which she had written and directed. Weinberger served as executive producer during the first season, and was replaced by Saul Turteltaub and Bernie Orenstein in the second season.

Turn-On

Turn-On is an American sketch comedy series that aired on ABC in February 1969. Only one episode was shown leaving one episode unaired and the show is considered one of the most infamous flops in TV history.Turn-On's sole episode was shown on Wednesday, February 5, 1969, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. Among the cast were Teresa Graves, who would join the Laugh-In cast that autumn, and Chuck McCann, longtime kiddie show host, character actor, and voice artist. The writing staff included a young Albert Brooks. The guest host for the 1st episode was Tim Conway.
