Cosby played a doctor and dad in this all-time classic, which was TV's biggest hit in the 1980s and almost single-handedly revived the sitcom genre and NBC's ratings fortunes after ABC passed on the series. Mostly set in a Brooklyn brownstone, the series focused on obstetrician Cliff Huxtable and his wife, Claire, a lawyer, as they raised their kids with loving firmness.
Life at 1313 Blueview Terrace was never easy, thanks to bumbling Chester A. Riley, an Archie Bunker without the attitude whose catchphrase---'what a revoltin' development this is!'---was a national tag line in the 1950s. The family sitcom first ran on NBC in 1949-50 with Jackie Gleason in the title role and won an Emmy (beating out 'The Lone Ranger'), but didn't last. It was revived three years later, this time starring William Bendix, who had played Riley on radio and in a 1948 movie.
Lovable schemer Zack Morris leads his pals on adventures at California's Bayside High School. The friends navigate relationships, final exams, school dances, breakups and more while frequently frustrating their principal, Mr. Richard Belding, who does his best to keep them in check.
Suddenly Susan is an American television sitcom. Shields plays Susan Keane, a glamorous San Francisco magazine writer who begins to adjust to being single, and who learns to be independent-minded, after being taken care of all her life.
Four mature single women share a house in Miami in a long-running ensemble sitcom that's enjoyed a resurgent popularity among younger viewers since repeats began airing on Lifetime. A two-time Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy Series, the smart Susan Harris-created sitcom dealt wittily (and often movingly) with aspects of friendship and aging, and earned awards for all four of its principal actresses.
Celebrity interviews, comedic bits and musical performances accent this venerable late-night staple, which is hosted by former "Late Night" host and "Saturday Night Live" funnyman Jimmy Fallon.
