X-Men: First Class won the top spot at the box office in its first weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

It grossed an estimated $56 million, higher than the first X-Men film released in 2000 ($54.5 million), but notably lower than the following three installments. Last week's record-breaking No. 1 film, The Hangover Part II, drew $32.4 million to take second place. Kung Fu Panda 2 followed at No. 3 with $24.3 million (crossing the $100 million mark).
