Veep is early in its fourth season, but the show has already suffered a loss.

Series creator Armando Iannucci has left the show, TVLine confirmed Friday.

Mega buzz: Who's getting fired on Veep?

The lifelong UK resident's family, including his wife and three children, are in Hertfordshire, England. A rep for HBO confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Iannucci left the show to spend more time with them.

"We have had conversations with Armando for some time about the challenges of maintaining his family life in London and producing a show in the states," read a statement.

HBO is bringing in David Mandel to replace Iannucci. Mandel and Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus worked together on Seinfeld.

"Armando is not replaceable but we are confident that Veep will continue to be produced at the highest levels with new showrunner David Mandel," the HBO statement said. "David has worked with HBO for many years as executive producer, writer and director for Curb Your Enthusiasm."
