Just over a month since escaping Desperate Housewives' Wisteria Lane, Teri Hatcher is setting down new roots as the estranged mom of teen designer Jane Quimby (Erica Dasher) on ABC Family's Jane by Design.
"She's very different than Susan," says exec producer April Blair. "She's a bit of a free spirt who hasn't exactly grown up." That should prove problematic for the career-oriented Jane, but Blair promises that Hatcher's four-episode gig comes with a happy ending...for Jane and Hatcher.
"We're currently filming the episode where she leaves again, and it is on good terms. The door is open for her return." At the very least, Hatcher will be back behind the scenes; she's slated to direct an episode next season.
