Following the cancellation of Caprica, Syfy has axed Stargate Universe, the network announced Thursday.

Stargate Universe, the third show in the franchise after Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, has averaged about a million viewers during its second season.

Syfy to air final five Caprica episodes back-to-back in January

The series stars Robert Carlyle, David Blue and Ming-Na as a stranded group of passengers traveling on a ship to the far reaches of the universe. The final 10 episodes of Season 2 will air in the spring.

Among the new series heading to Syfy: A U.S. adaptation of Being Human and Alphas. Also: the Battlestar Galacticaprequel movie, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome.
