Morton, whose credits also include The Good Wifeand White Collar, will play Dr. Charles Russell, the serious, dry, and intimidating head of Katherine's hospital, who is hard-pressed to control the maverick Katherine, but who appreciates her abilities and commitment. Since Morton is only a guest star on Scandal, he could potentially still make appearances on the ABC drama as Rowan, the father of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).
Rob Bragin will write the pilot and Alex Graves will direct. Sedgwick previously starred in and executive-produced TNT's police drama The Closer.
