He's unhinged like never before
Fans grew to love Benedict Cumberbatch playing a drug-addicted detective on Sherlock, but in his new Showtime limited series, he's going full-tilt.
Cumberbatch plays the titular character in Patrick Melrose, a man grappling with alcohol and drug addiction as the death of his father brings up a host of childhood traumas and scars of abuse. The revelations of his past force Patrick to try and better himself for his own family and children, but sobriety appears to be pushing him to the brink of sanity (and even leads to him being institutionalized for a bit).

The all-star cast is rounded out by Hugo Weaving (Lord of the Rings, The Matrix) as Patrick's father, Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Anna Madeley (The Crown), Blythe Danner (Meet the Fockers), and Allison Williams (Girls).
The limited series will debut later this year on Showtime.
(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, Showtime's parent company.)
