Magnum P.I. is back, baby!
CBS announced on Friday that it is picking up a reboot of the Tom Selleck detective hit from the '80s, now starring Suicide Squad's Jay Hernandez in the title role. Whether Hernandez will sport Magnum's iconic mustache is still to be determined, but we have to imagine adequate facial hair will be required for the role.
Even though revivals and reboots are all the rage on TV these days, CBS is adding in some original blood to its fall dramas as well. The network picked up The Red Line, a racial and political drama from Ava DuVernay and Greg Berlanti. Let's rephrase that: The director of Selma and the man behind Everwood and the CW superhero universe have teamed up for a drama about race at CBS. It also stars Noah Wyle and Shameless alum Noel Fisher. My brain can't even handle this. The next TV season is wild.

The fun does not stop there! CBS also grabbed God Friended Me, giving a new home to The Mayor breakout Brandon Michael Hall and Scandal's Joe Morton. The hourlong series raises questions of existential faith when a man is friended by God on social media. Talk about a weird slip into the DMs.
Hamilton star Phillipa Soo also joins the CBS family in military courtroom drama The Code, which also stars Anna Wood and Ato Essandoh.
CBS will announce its full fall schedule next week.
