Jon Stewart has signed a four-year production pact with HBO that includes short-form digital content as well as a first-look option for film and television projects, the network announced Tuesday.
Under the deal, the former Daily Show host will begin producing timely short-form digital content for HBO NOW, with several posts a day. "Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me," Stewart said in a statement. "I'm pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again."
This isn't the first time Stewart has worked with HBO. In addition to appearing on The Larry Sanders Show and Mr. Show with Bob and David, Stewart also starred on his own stand-up show for the network, Unleavened, and hosted a tribute to George Carlin.
"Jon Stewart led a revolution that changed the face of TV comedy on The Daily Show," HBO President Michael Lombardo said in a statement. "He graced our network nearly 20 years ago, so we're thrilled to welcome back his immense talents in this next chapter of his career."
