Is That Bates?! Check Out the Downton Abbey Star's Bloody New Series Spotless

Whoa, Bates has turned to the dark side!

Hanh Nguyen

Bates may not have been guilty of murder (either time) on Downton Abbey, but on his new show it's a different story.

Actor Brendan Coyle has left the Crawleys and Anna behind to pursue a life of crime. On Esquire Network's new dark comedy seriesSpotless, Coyle plays Nelson Clay, a mob boss who apparently generates a lot of bloody corpses and realizes that it would be really handy to have a crime-scene cleaner on his payroll. Watch the exclusive sneak peek above to hear Coyle himself describe the series.

Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery found her next role -- and it's nothing like Lady Mary!

Coyle is best known as the Crawley family's loyal valet Bates on the hit period drama Downton Abbey, which wraps up its sixth and final season this year. Bates has been accused of murder, not once, but twice.

Spotless premieres Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10/9c on Esquire Network
