Chris Cuomo will leave Good Morning America to anchor 20/20; George Stephanopoulos and Juju Chang will join the morning news program, ABC announced Thursday."I have been blessed to be at GMA. I thank all of you," Cuomo, 39, said on Thursday's show. "[20/20] is a dream job for a journalist like me, but it was also a very difficult decision, because I am leaving a special place and crew and all of you and you are all part of my family. The good news is you never really leave family, so you're not going to see this mug every day, but you will see it often, especially when it matters."Diane Sawyer to leave GMA FridayCuomo, who has been on GMA for three years, will co-anchor 20/20 with ...

"[20/20] is a dream job for a journalist like me, but it was also a very difficult decision, because I am leaving a special place and crew and all of you and you are all part of my family. Diane Sawyer to leave GMA Friday

Cuomo, who has been on GMA for three years, will co-anchor 20/20 with Elizabeth Vargas, covering breaking news and getting "answers for all the shows on the network."On Friday, both Cuomo and Diane Sawyer will log their last day on the morning program. Sawyer, 63, is replacing the retiring Charles Gibson as the anchor of ABC's World News Tonight starting Dec. 21. An ABC rep said Cuomo's 20/20 start date has not yet been determined.

Report: George Stephanopoulos offered Good Morning America gig

The dual departures pave the way for Stephanopoulos and Chang to join GMA — as has been previously reported — to replace Sawyer and Cuomo, respectively. Stephanopoulos and Chang will start Monday, alongside Robin Roberts and weatherman Sam Champion."I can't wait to join Good Morning America's amazing team, and serve its loyal viewers," Stephanopoulos said. "No one can replace Diane Sawyer, but I'll do everything I can to match her unquenchable curiosity and intense commitment to informing the country every morning. What an adventure."Stephanopoulos, 48, currently hosts ABC's Sunday-morning news show, This Week, and will continue to host for the time being, a show rep said. Chang, 44, has been with ABC since 1991, working as a correspondent for 20/20 and GMA.
