The Conjuring, the horror film based on a true story about two supernatural investigators, took the top spot at the box office this weekend. Its estimated $41.5 million haul, according to Box Office Mojo, is more than twice its original budget of $20 million.

Falling to second place was Despicable Me 2, which took in $25 million in its third week — enough to edge out fellow kid film Turbo, which debuted in third place with $21.5 million. Grown Ups 2 fell to No. 4 in its second week with $20 million.

What are the best summer movies of all time?

Red 2 (No. 5) had a disappointing opening with $18.5 million, while Pacific Rim fell to sixth place in its second week with a meager $15.9 million.

Also lackluster in its first week was R.I.P.D., which landed at No. 7 with $12.7 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 were The Heat (No. 8, $9.3 million), World War Z (No. 9, $5.2 million) and Monsters University (No. 10, $5 million).
