A bomb threat on the Compound has everyone on edge, and Eddie feels responsible for it; Cal blackmails Vera into naming him CEO of Meyerism; Sarah discovers that The Ladder may have had another author, a woman, who was forcefully silenced.
Eddie tries to save the soul of a man who's been terrorizing the compound; Vera struggles between loyalty to her mother and her feelings for Eddie; Cal decides to drag his family back to the compound, but Mary fears for their future together.
When Eddie's image is publicly bashed, he must choose to turn the other cheek or use Vera to fire back. Meanwhile, an old Meyerist ritual unearths repressed memories for Cal; and Sarah's faith crisis deepens when she meets a college professor who challenges her beliefs.
