ABC tried out pilots for its 1953-54 season in this anthology, which featured big budgets in an effort to show that it could compete with CBS and NBC. Also the DuMont network, which picked up one of the `Playhouse' entries, `Colonel Humphrey Flack,' with Alan Mowbray. Another show, `Justice,' turned up on NBC in 1954. Only `Jamie,' a family sitcom, made ABC's lineup. `Playhouse' was titled `ABC Album' for its first few weeks, until Plymouth signed on as the sponsor.
