The group feel confined and uneasy after learning they'll be restricted to the hotel. Their trepidation grows later when they come across personal items in their rooms. Elsewhere, Kat and Renbe investigate another abandoned town.
Joe experiences scary side effects from his reeducation that alienate some members of the group. Due to this upheaval, a new night manager (Alan Smyth) arrives to restore order. Elsewhere, Renbe is arrested in South America after a raid by the local police.
Joe endures a series of visions designed to return him to the program and to shift his focus from Janet. Elsewhere, Blackham and McNair address demons from the past; and Kat and Renbe search South America for a program escapee.
Joe comes clean to Janet about what he knows about the kidnappers. After the upsetting revelation, Blackham and Erika make plans to use Joe in an escape attempt. Meanwhile, Kat, Renbe and Stefano contend that Joe could lead them to Tori and Janet.
Dread sweeps through the group when Joe falls seriously ill. Although she has an antidote, Erika rejects giving it to Joe---unless he owns up to his secret. Elsewhere, reporter Renbe and Kat appear at Tori's funeral in Rome. Before long, they discover that Tori's ambassador father is also probing her disappearance.
The group encounter a newcomer with a tattoo of the name Erika on her arm. The woman lashes out in her new surroundings and attacks several members of the group. Elsewhere, Renbe's suspicions grow after he makes a connection between Tori's and Janet's ordeals.
The group fret over news that someone will be leaving, and a taxi arrives to pick up Janet and a guest of her choice. Later, Tori begs for freedom, a plea that seems to produce results, and Joe meets with someone unexpected.
While the group are in turmoil over the failed escape attempts, a helicopter hovers over their location and drops a box. Meanwhile, Renbe ignores warnings and renews his investigation into Janet's abduction.
Moira removes the implanted device from her thigh, while Joe and McNair try to get a handle on the invisible fence. Meanwhile, reporter Renbe wants to dig deeper into Janet's disappearance, but he isn't able to get far.
Seven strangers are abducted and taken to a deserted town in the premiere of this mystery-drama series. After assessing their situation, the group discover that security cameras are perched throughout the town and an escape won't come easily. Meanwhile, one member of the group (Daisy Betts) receives a fortune-cookie message encouraging her to kill someone in order to gain freedom.
