Tom visits Paddy Long's in Chicago, home of the Bacon Bomb, 5 lbs. of ground sausage, pork and beef, wrapped in a weave of bacon. He also samples a 7-lb. burrito at San Felipe's Cantina in Tempe, Ariz., and a 2-foot pizza topped with ghost chiles at Bernie-O's Pizza in North Muskegon, Mich.
Candied bacon is sampled at the Sticky Pig in Costa Mesa, Cal. The host also visits Taste of a Gyro in Sonoma, Cal., where traditional gyros are topped with homemade hot sauce; and B & B Grocery in Des Moines, where colossal sandwiches are served.
Tom samples a 6-lb. burrito at the White Rabbit Truck in Los Angeles. Also featured: savory cupcakes, with toppings like caviar and lamb, from Philadelphia's It's a CupCake!; a 22-ounce chicken-fried steak from Hickory Hollow in Houston.
Tempura-fried mac-and-cheese, burgers and Twinkies are served at Sumo Grub in Berkeley, Cal. The host also samples super spicy hot wings at the 710 Grille in San Pedro, Cal., and pulled pork served on homemade apple fritters at the Tin Star Cafe in Evergreen, Colo.
A 2-ft. cheesesteak is served at Jake's Sandwich Board in Philadelphia, where hungry diners attempt the "5-pound Philly Challenge," racing to consume the massive sandwich along with other Philly classics, including four soft pretzels and 12 Tastykakes. Later, the host checks out Corona's Mexican Grill in Broomfield, Colo., and the Pantry in McKinney, Texas.
Tom orders a 30-inch pizza at Pizza Casbah in Fort Collins, Colo. He then heads to Philly to sample the turducken burger at Smokin' Betty's, and lastly, he checks out Palazzolo's Artisan Gelato & Sorbetto in Fennville, Mich., where more than 600 flavors are served.
