A profile of Nellie Tayloe Ross (1876-1977), who became first female governor in U.S. history following the death of her husband, Wyoming governor William B. Ross, in 1924. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed her to the United States Mint, where she served as director until 1953.
