He has little patience for patients, but misanthropic Gregory House is a brilliant diagnostician who probes life-and-death medical mysteries while 'CSI'-style graphics follow each disease's progression. 'X-Men' director Bryan Singer is one of the executive producers.

A 6-year-old's intestinal ailment leads to kidney and pituitary-gland failure. It's the same thing that happened to a 73-year-old woman who died---in one day---on House's watch 12 years earlier, and he's determined not to have it happen again. Cuddy has treated the boy before, but she doesn't know how sick he is because she's in the lobby downstairs, drinking heavily at a hospital-benefit poker tournament, and House isn't about to tell her.
