An American opera diva is among the hostages taken when terrorists storm a diplomatic gathering in Lima, Peru; and, during the months-long crisis, unexpected alliances form between the captors and captives. Adapted from Ann Patchett's novel "Bel Canto," the opera features a score is by Jimmy López and libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz.
