In the series finale, the results of the bar exam are in, and of Cristela, Maddie and Josh, only two of them pass, one of whom is Cristela, who is offered an attorney position by Trent. Returning home with the good news, Cristela is greeted with an unexpected surprise by Daniela.
With the bar exam approaching, Cristela, Josh and Maddie all deal with the pressure in a different way, and when Daniela loses her job, Natalia leans on Cristela to reconsider taking the test and perhaps try another profession.
In a crossover episode with "Last Man Standing," Tim Allen plays his Mike Baxter character from that show and seeks Cristela's legal help in expanding his gun range in Dallas, which requires her to curry favor with a zoning commissioner.
When Trent represents a landlord accused of refusing to rent to minorities, he has Cristela sit at his table during the trial, hoping to demonstrate that the defendant doesn't have any prejudices, but his plan backfires. Meanwhile, Alberto bonds with Natalia, and Daniela questions his motives.
An invitation to Juanita Canales' granddaughter's quinceañera leads Natalia to pull out all the stops in an effort to turn the spotlight on her own family. She even insists that Cristela bring Josh as her date.
