In the second-season finale, Danny is convinced that God is the only one who can save him, so he throws himself into the church. His friends and family wonder if his zeal is real or just a sign of desperation.
Gretchen allows Danny back in the house on a probationary basis, but he has to stay in the guest room. Meanwhile, Isabella accuses him of being soft, so Danny gets in the boxing ring with a heavyweight contender to prove her wrong.
Danny fears he's losing his family, so he sees his psychiatrist to get his medication levels checked. Since Gretchen is very close to filing for divorce, Danny decides the only way to win her back is by spending more time with his kids and taking on more parental duties.
Danny receives Harvard Lampoon's Man of the Year award, and asks Gretchen to accompany him to Boston for the ceremony. All is well until Gretchen refuses to sleep with Danny the night of the event, and Danny's reaction leads Gretchen to believe that she should move forward with the divorce.
