Are you one of the millions of viewers who don't watch Weeds because you don't have Showtime? TV Guide Network hopes to change that with "National Weeds Awareness Week."
"Amazingly, approximately 80 million American adults have never experienced Weeds and untold millions lack even the most basic awareness of it," the network said in a statement Monday. "But among the many challenges facing our citizens today, the difficulty in getting Weeds will soon be but a distant memory. Addressing the deficiency head-on, TV Guide Network has proudly stepped-in as the television home for "National Weeds Awareness Week."
TV Guide network will air a six-night marathon of episodes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET/PT from Sunday through Friday, then air four episodes back-to-back every Sunday at 9 p.m., starting Oct. 24.
"'National Weeds Awareness Week' gives ordinary adults, health care providers, public policy makers and the media an opportunity to encourage their loved ones to experience Weeds on a regular basis," the statement said. "Americans are encouraged to participate in local activities such as hosting "Weeds Week" parties, wearing green to work and attending events at neighborhood taverns to share their knowledge of Weeds with strangers. These fun, community-oriented activities help people take the Weeds awareness issue into their own hands, empowering them to create the enlightenment necessary for true happiness."
A website, www.WeedsAwareness.com, will offer a "Grow Weeds Awareness" starter kit with signs and bumper stickers, a "How to Throw Your Own 'Weeds' Party" guide, and a guide to other activities.

Weeds,

The show, which is in its sixth season on Showtime and has been picked-up for its seventh season, is executive produced by Jenji Kohan, Roberto Benabib and Matthew Salsberg.
