Cal and Co. pull double duty as they return from their six-week holiday hiatus with two episodes, airing back to back. First up: A rich friend of Cal's daughter whose father is in a pricey mental hospital thinks something fishy is going on, so Cal gets himself committed there to snoop around. But Cal might not be just acting crazy. Paula Malcolmson (Sons of Anarchy) plays Cal's late mother in a hallucination sequence. Then a wealthy woman hires the Lightman Group to check out her new young boyfriend (Sam Page). There's something fishy about him, too. — Paul Droesch

Finally. With 34 bowl games under our postseason belts, the most anticipated matchup gets underway in Glendale, Ariz., with Auburn taking on Oregon for the right to wave the big foam finger. It's true that even with Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton running the Tiger attack, and All-America RB LaMichael James the biggest gun in the No. 1-ranked offense of Oregon, it's possible that this game will be decided by the superior defense. But really — is that why you're watching? Defenders may feel neglected, but this one has offensive firepower written all over it. — Dave Roeder

Carrey, the star of The Truman Show (1998) and Man on the Moon (1999), gives expression to his formative years as a class clown, reflects on his early jobs (which included janitorial work), sheds light on his big break on TV's In Living Color and talks about how he developed his offbeat Ace Ventura character. (The show's second season is slated to pick back up in the summer with six new episodes.) Tonight, Joe, Owen and Terry take a breather as well by hightailing it to Palm Springs for the weekend. Yet this bond-of-brothers excursion isn't all fun and games. While there, the three decide each will get colonoscopies. The threesome confront their ongoing personal dramas as well: Joe grapples with his dicey gambling issues, Terry obsesses about Erin, and Owen opens up about his father and the dealership. — Dean MaurerThe X Life10/9c VH1 The lives of extreme athletes and their significant others are showcased in this new reality series.
