The Closer
9/8c TNT
This belle always rings loud and clear. Sleuthing Southern belle Brenda Leigh Johnson makes some noise, springing into action to investigate the shooting deaths of three soldiers, who were gunned down outside a Los Angeles club after just returning home from Afghanistan. Potential national-security implications mark the case and trigger the arrival of one Major Edward Dorset (Gary Cole). A shock-and-awe battle is on when Brenda then finds herself in a seismic investigative clash with the military man. — Dean Maurer
Bachelor Pad

8/7c ABC
You probably didn't need a weatherman to know which way the winds of love and intrigue would blow for Jonathan, and perhaps it's surprising that he made it to Week 3. In any event, he's gone now, as is whiny Gia, who can return to her boyfriend (if he still wants her). Meanwhile, Natalie reinforced reality-TV law No. 1: "She who goes topless succeeds." But she and everyone else should run for cover tonight, when there are five (count 'em) eliminations. In a (sort of) related note: The contestant lineup for Dancing with the Stars, which will return in this time slot Sept. 20, is announced during the show. — Paul Droesch
U.S. Open Tennis
1/noon c ESPN2
The finale to the Grand Slam season gets underway with early-round play in Flushing, N.Y. Opting to avoid the traffic and crowds this year are three-time women's winner Serena Williams and defending men's champ Juan Martin del Potro, both recovering from injuries. The pre-tourney Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal battle for the No. 1 seed went to Nadal for the second time in three years, but there could be another confrontation coming. On the women's side, Caroline Wozniacki earned her first top seed in a Grand Slam event. — Dave Roeder
Dance Your Ass Off
10/9c Oxygen
After 12 episodes of a summer-long quest to slim down via the various disciplines of dance (including hip-hop, ballroom and Latin dance), the contestants' pound-shedding progress is finally sized up in the conclusion of the two-part Season 2 finale. With a cool $100,000 prize on the line, the shape-shifting finalists participate in the climactic showdown, after which the seasonal champ is revealed. Choreographer Dave Scott is the guest judge. — Dean Maurer
Real Housewives of New Jersey
10/9c Bravo
Buckle up tightly for a tilt-a-whirl Jersey journey when Garden State housewives Teresa Giudice, Caroline Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita and that drama magnet herself, Danielle Staub, reassemble for Part 1 of a two-part reunion set in Atlantic City. Andy Cohen hosts — referees? — the volatile gathering, a supersize showdown that features the Jersey girls dissing and dishing about Season 2's panorama of mama dramas. The conclusion airs next week. — Dean Maurer
Weeds
10/9c Showtime
You knew it was just a matter of time before Nancy got back into the canna-biz. While hiding in Washington state, the strapped-for-cash, once-and-future queen of dealers hooks up with a no-nonsense, you-get-what-you-pay-for connection (Linda Hamilton). Expect them to find a way to hash out their differences. Meanwhile, newly hired hotel bellhop Silas, aka Mike, learns a lesson in how to read a guest and his desires, and discovers just how far he's willing to go to score a healthy gratuity. — Ray Stackhouse
