Why "Post-Modern Prometheus" holds a special place in their hearts
The X-Files stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have played Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for more than 20 years, but there's one moment they cherish above all the rest - and one close to many fans' hearts.
Season 5's "Post-Modern Prometheus" is a black-and-white episode that blends B-movies, Jerry Springer and comic books into a delightfully light comedy that ends with the two stars slow-dancing. "There's a Cher impersonator up on stage and it's kind of a happy ending to a monster story. And Mulder asks Scully to get up and dance," Duchovny says of the unscripted moment. "It was always very emotional to me."
Creator Chris Carter adds: "For me, it was the perfect Mulder-Scully moment in a relationship that had not been physical; all of the sudden here were these two characters dancing lovingly, and even kind of romantically, together. It was sweet and I'll never forget it."
Watch the stars discuss the moment in the video above.
The X-Files airs Mondays at 8/7c on Fox.
