The Perfectionists Mega Buzz: Are Alex and Mary Still Locked in Mona's Basement?

Freeform's Pretty Little Liars spin-off The Perfectionistsmay be telling a whole new story, but it will have to answer several lingering questions from its predecessor series. Among those burning queries is whether Alex (Troian Bellisario) and Mary Drake (Andrea Parker) are still locked in Mona's (Janel Parrish) basement while she's wreaking havoc in Beacon Heights.

"I always never say assume anything in our Pretty Little Liars world, so the same is true with our Perfectionists," showrunner I. Marlene King recently teased to TV Guide.

The Perfectionists Rounds Out Its Cast of Liars

Without giving anything away, King did promise that fans will get a "cheeky but truthful" explanation to what happened to Alex and Mary in the series premiere of The Perfectionists. We can only hope it's a better answer than how the moms escaped the basement in the middle of Season 6 on Pretty Little Liars.

The Perfectionists is expected to premiere in early 2019 on Freeform.
