It kind of feels like The Originalsis trying to outdo itself with all the murder and mayhem happening this year, but I guess that's just life in the supernatural French Quarter.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan) did, in fact, solve the mystery of who took Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), but he wasn't exactly thrilled with his findings. Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), the little monster, decided it was high time her dad came back to see her, and what better way to get him to come running than for mommy to go missing? As Hope tells it, kidnapping family members and locking them in coffins is just the Mikaelson way, right? Unfortunately, something went awry in Hope's plan to keep Hayley's coffin safe, and now she's missing for real!

That's not the only big news to hit the supernatural community though. Henry (Nicholas Alexander), Hope's new hybrid, faced judgement for his crimes, and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) sentenced him to a time out in The Garden -- a.k.a. his underground prison -- until the kid could handle his urges. Marcel's control over the city isn't what it used to be though, and someone still holding a grudge broke in, killed Henry, and strung him up for all to see.

TV Guide asked Charles Michael Davis to weigh in on who is causing this ruckus in New Orleans, and how Marcel and Klaus will tackle this latest challenge for power.

The Originals Mega Buzz: How Will Elijah Get His Memories Back?

How will Marcel react to his authority being challenged and Henry being killed?
Charles Michael Davis: Yeah, they strung Henry up on a rope, that was a definite gut-punch. It's tough because he was a hybrid, but it was more about who did it to him. So yeah, there's that search for who's coming to New Orleans and who's taking matters into their own hands.

Someone has also kidnapped Hayley, so who's on that list of suspects and how devoted is Marcel to tracking her down?
Davis: They're all really invested in finding Hayley, Marcel especially. Marcel has known Hayley since she was a baby, and he knows that Hope needs a mother, and Hayley is a great mother... It's all about finding her. [Klaus and Marcel] team up, and they go on a search. They work together, and they kind of talk about how to go about it and tempers flare. They kind of have different ideas. Klaus thinks it's best to just start piling up bodies, and Marcel doesn't think that that's the best thing to do, so they have to try to compromise and remember that it's all for the sake of Hayley. Yeah, you get some good scenes. You see them just walking through the Quarter, working together like a little CSI investigation.

That relationship has always had both a very loving and a very combative side. How much of each of those sides will we see from Klaus and Marcel this season?
Davis: I think there's less of the combative side. I feel like they've gotten that out of their systems... They have their history, but it's not about that anymore now that Hope is grown up and a teenager and also now that Hope's mother's life is hanging in the balance. They'll put aside their issues.

Does Marcel kind of see himself as a big brother for Hope? Is that his role?
Davis: Yes, we do establish that there's a bond, there's an emotional bond. Marcel helped to take care of Hope over the years because Klaus was obviously gone, so he was always there for her whenever she needed him. They have a good relationship. Yeah, they're definitely brother and sister.

As for Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Marcel, I think turning down that proposal was insane because it may have been one of the best proposals of all time.
Davis: I don't know if that was the best proposal of all time, did you see Justin Baldoni's proposal to Emily on Youtube? I was happy to be a part of that one, so I'm part of the two greatest proposals of all time. [Laughs].

That's fair. Do you think Marcel and Rebekah can find their way back to each other before the season is out?
Davis: Yes, definitely. There's still more time. There's definitely hope. Hope is still alive figuratively and literally for Marcel and Rebekah.

The Originals: Joseph Morgan and Julie Plec Weigh in on "Klaroline"

Can Marcel really forgive her after that rejection though?
Davis: Yeah, I think so. I mean, he's very passionate about her, and they're passionate about each other, so even though he gave her the ultimatum, I think deep down he's just frustrated. I don't think he really means all or nothing. But now he's got some time to cool off, and I don't know, maybe they'll find their way back to each other before the last episode of the entire series. We'll see.

We'll also get to see a little bit of Marcel in Elijah's big episode next week, what can you tease about that?
Davis: That was a beautifully written episode because it was kind of a standalone where we just follow Elijah and you get to meet Jaime Murray and her character, Antoinette... We learn from that episode that some ghosts of Elijah's past creep in there, and one of them is Marcel. He has a vague memory of Marcel, so when they actually interact it kind of sparks something and sends him on this chase.

The Originals airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
