The Challengeis returning this month with War of the Worlds 2, a sequel to the most recent season, which introduced the franchise's most impressive group of Challenge newbies and led to Turabi "Turbo" Camkiran having the best rookie season yet.

Turbo will be one of the many familiar faces returning to The Challenge, but the most notable returns are Laurel Stucky and Jordan Wiseley. Laurel was last seen on Invasion of the Champions in 2016 -- the only one of her five challenge seasons where she didn't make it to a final. Jordan won Dirty 30 in 2017 and has one of the biggest egos in the game, but has learned to back that up with his unbeatable endurance in final challenges.

On top of bringing plenty of favorites back to the game, this season -- which kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 9/8c on MTV -- will feature 90-minute episodes. That's so much drama and so many challenges. Here's how the season breaks down.

However, it remains to be seen how many from each team will be allowed to stay standing at the end of the season.

FEUDS AND DRAMA

Paulie and Cara Maria vs. the world, but mostly Kyle: The most tedious love triangle started in Final Reckoning when Kyle rejected Cara Maria and she turned her attention to Paulie. The two athletes became an official couple before returning for War of the Worlds, and they spent that season alienating a lot of allies in order to make Kyle pay for his past treatment of Cara Maria. Everyone involved in the situation was too petty to let this feud die any time soon, but now the couple's enemies have Paulie's off-season philandering to use as bait to wind up the Big Brother alum.

Laurel and Cara Maria: Laurel and Cara Maria have grown to be almost sisters over the course of their tenure on the franchise. Usually, Laurel has Cara Maria's back, but will she when she sees what a target Paulie creates? Laurel has gotten heart eyes for people on The Challenge before (Jordan on Free Agents and Melissa on Invasion of the Champions) that have jeopardized her game-time decisions, but she has little patience when someone else is doing that in her alliance. Look for Paulie to potentially be a huge source of tension between these two.

2018 Was the Greatest Year for The Challenge Yet

Zach vs. Bananas: Zach has previously been part of the big dog inner circle, considering his size and ability to compete in challenges. However, after a weak mental game on War of the Worlds, he was accused at the finale reunion of sabotaging a challenge to set up Bananas. It doesn't seem like Bananas' inner circle is willing to trust him again. Can Zach schmooze his way back into Bananas and Leroy's good graces or will he be forced to team up with Wes and whatever renegade plan he has this season?

Bananas and Wes (and maybe Jordan): It's the same story every season these two are on the show. Who is actually the top dog of the franchise? Wes likes to go for Bananas right out the gate, while Bananas prefers to allow the rookies to eliminate each other before taking out his big targets. However, considering Wes orchestrated getting Bananas out of the house in only the second challenge on War of the Worlds, expect them both to come into this game guns blazing. The wild card in the situation is Jordan, who also thinks of himself as the greatest challenger to play the game. He loathes Bananas, but is he willing to let Wes call all the shots over him? This will be a tricky setup, and wherever Jordan lands will shape the alliances within the house quickly.

Your Guide to All the Feuds and Hookups in the Challenge: War of the Worlds Cast

Georgia and Bear: Georgia and Bear became the most charismatic couple of War of the Worlds, but also the most problematic. That's because Bear definitely had a girlfriend back home while they were hooking up and constantly lied to Georgia about it. She knows he's toxic, but they were still hooking up at the reunion. Prepare for fireworks if Georgia catches him cuddling with other girls or tries to make their relationship more serious than it is. No matter what, it will be excellent television.

Turbo and Dee: Turbo and Dee got into a gigantic fight two challenges before the final on War of the Worlds, and even though Dee apologized, Turbo still sent her into the penultimate elimination. Dee lost and was sent home without getting to compete in the final challenge. Maybe she could forgive Turbo if he hadn't pretended to accept her apology -- but if they end up on the same team this season, she will be gunning for him.

Leroy vs. Kam and Theo: Leroy really thought he had something special with Kam after sparks flew between them a few seasons ago. However, Kam wasn't looking to make anything too serious, especially with an Olympic qualifying track star in the house. Kam and Theo hooking up on War of the Worlds did not go over well with Leroy, who was still pretty salty about it at the show's finale reunion. Don't expect this trio to be hanging out any time soon.

The Challenge: Cara Maria Has Words For You Haters Out There

Joss and Paulie: Joss skipped War of the Worlds after he was robbed of his share of $1 million on Final Reckoning, thanks to Paulie and his then-partner, Natalie Negrotti. Despite making a deal not to throw penalties at each other in the Final Reckoning final challenge, Natalie put her last penalty on Joss and Sylvia, who were clearly in first place. However, the big move didn't lead to Paulie and Natalie taking the prize. They still came in third, and Joss and Syliva came in second while Ashley and Hunter moved ahead to first place. Natalie isn't on War of the Worlds 2, but Paulie is, and he backed her play at the time. Trust that Joss has not forgotten about that lost paycheck yet.
