Secretary star Maggie Gyllenhaal can forget about taking home any People's Choice Awards. At the Tribeca Film Festival last week, while plugging her next release, The Great New Wonderful (about New York City life after Sept. 11), she suggested that the U.S. was "responsible in some way" for the attacks that were launched against the country. As a result, Maggie-Gyllenhaal.net was deluged with hate mail enough to cause the site to crash. Jake's sister later issued a statement that we all had to be "brave enough to ask some serious questions about America's role in the world." But by then, no one was listening.
